I kind of got distracted from the photo a day themes, blaming it on holidays, motivation and too much else to consider at present. I did go on a photography course which was inspiring and taught me how to use some of the functions on my camera instead of just relying on the fully automatic mode. one of the things I learnt was how to take photos of fast things like water. So heres a sample of my water based pictures. Still haven’t quite got to grips with the right lighting – but its a new thing…

New Zealand did well not to concede more

I had my first experience of going to a football match yesterday – and it was surreal, fabulous and sometimes a bit flat. The match was New Zealand versus USA in the Olympic Woman’s quarter finals. The crowd I suspect were mainly made up of curious people lIke myself who wanted to say ‘ I was at the olympics in 2012’ and then by USA fans. The best bit was when the action was down by the goal we were very near, you could hear the shouting and see the expressions on the players faces and when a Mexican wave was started which was brilliant. The worst aspect was just the amount of empty seats which I found really disappointing. I’m really really pleased that I went as that will more then probably be my only experience of an olympic game. Oh and the score was USA 2 New Zealand 0.
